Keep Fitness Simple and it Will Keep You Fit

When it comes to your fitness journey, it takes patience and hard work to see the results that you want to achieve. We think that when we start working out we should see progress right away, and while that does happen with some people depending on their routine and what they’re eating, genetics, etc. A lot of the time it takes a couple months before you start seeing a change with your body.

Now when we start to workout consistently and eat right and we are not seeing the results we want soon enough, we result in trying other things seen on social media that can help us “lose weight faster”. You’re being lied to on social media pretty much everyday. Everyone is trying these drink concoctions that will help you “lose x amount of pounds in a week” and whatnot. Some of these drinks can be good for your health but most likely won’t help you lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way.

Consistency

No one likes this answer but the key to getting results with your fitness journey is consistency. Be consistent with your workouts each day/week, be consistent with your eating habits and you eventually will get to where you want to be. The reason we try so many shortcuts is because we don’t have patience within ourselves and we want a bikini body in two weeks time. Then when we steer away from the simple task and consistency we tend to start over again with the process or are always trying to find some shortcut that will magically work.

Stressed the F out!

Anytime we slightly over complicate things we are stressed. Stress is a large no go when it comes to seeing results and fitness. When we are stressed we increase our cortisol production, which then has an impact on our digestive and immune systems. Why do we get so stressed when it comes to fitness? We are afraid of our form being incorrect, people judging in the gym, stressed that we aren’t doing enough for our workouts, or if you’re not in the gym for two hours then your workout is pointless… The list goes on, we stress about the smallest things. Exercise is supposed to help us relieve our stress and feel more grounded. We self sabotage and worry too much, keep it simple and meditate lol.

Try this instead..

If you are really not seeing a change and you are being consistent, try to switch it up a bit. Since summer is here, try walking to your destinations and it will save your pockets too with gas prices right now. Or really sit down and plan out your meals or see what you can tweak with your diet. If you are just feeling stressed about life in general try activities such as reading, getting outside, or just taking time off the internet to feel a bit better. Part of your fitness journey is to figure out what works with you and what you enjoy doing most. We hold a lot of expectations from ourselves when starting new things, but how will we learn or know certain things without trial and error?

No one is perfect when it comes to fitness, so just do your best and try not to stress over the little things. The sooner you learn that if you stick to consistency your results will come. Don’t stress yourself out with fads you see on the internet and stick to the facts, you got this.
