“You’ve Changed.” I hope so!

A lot of people view change as a problem or try to avoid change completely. Change is necessary in order for individuals to grow and discover themselves and what they truly love. So yeah change is uncomfortable but it helps you grow.

As we are all going through different things and are changing each and every day, a lot of the time we don’t really see it as a positive thing. We think that life is turning to shit and we don’t know what to do. The first step to change is to recognize it and accept it for what it is. Certain things don’t go your way because you’re not meant for that thing. As this can all be a bunch of confusion at first and we don’t know what’s going on, it all makes sense down the road.

Why we deflect change

Who doesn’t love their comfort zone? Literally everyone. Anything that feels abnormal to us we get uncomfortable with. When we feel uncomfortable we break down and don’t know what to do because we think what we are feeling is wrong. When we stay in our same ways and habits we do not get any closer to where/what we want to be in life. When trying something new we sometimes feel embarrassed or judged by others, therefore resorting back to our old ways. Then we stay sitting there waiting for what we want in life to happen. This only delays the process of what you want.

Why we need change

Good things take time, but don’t let time fool you into thinking that you should just sit back and watch life go by. If there is a goal you want to achieve or you want to be a different, better version of yourself you’re gonna have to start getting out of your comfort zone to grow and be that thing! When trying new things, turn your nervousness into excitement and see how the outcome plays out. You could feel embarrassed about trying something new but take that feeling and grow with it. Trying something new and looking like a fool is a lot better in my opinion than sitting back and being the person that watches and laughs.

Change can bring excitement into our lives and bring more confidence by simply wearing a new style, changing your hair, starting a new hobby etc. It also brings a different viewpoint on life. When fearing change we feel stuck in this same, draining vicious cycle that doesn’t end up benefiting us. If we look at change in the viewpoint of, I can learn from this, what if I like this outcome, and at least I’m trying, then we start to change.

Embrace it

Stop trying to fear change and embrace it! Get out of your comfort zone more often or it will make you feel stuck. If you want to be a better version of yourself, start to write down what that person would be doing everyday and start to be that person. Start little by little and build on from there. Each day is an opportunity to learn something new and grow. Turn it into something fun and try something new every week. If people are judging you and say, “wow you’ve changed” you say back, “I hope I have, I’m so glad I’m not the same person I was even a year ago”. This will hopefully give them a different outlook and will realize that change and growing as an individual is cool. You can still like the same thighs you always have but everyday we discover something new about ourselves and what we want in life.
