How to Have a Mindful Morning Routine

Starting your morning off in a positive way is the key to set the tone for the rest of your day. Getting into a routine can be a little hard at first because any kind of change is a challenge. Change is always hard at first, but it’s the only way to grow as a person.

What I would not recommend starting your routine like is snoozing your alarm multiple times, then going straight to your phone and checking social media. This just puts you back into the cycle of social media and not really starting on a positive, peaceful note. You can go on your phone and look up things on YouTube and Pinterest to have a good morning, we’ll get to that in a sec.

Step 1: Don’t Snooze It

Don’t snooze your alarm when getting up in the morning! This is not good because obviously you want to get up and get going, but you also aren’t getting good sleep between snoozes because you know in the back of your mind that you have to wake up in ten minutes. Start by cutting down on your snoozes and then try waking up with that first alarm. Another thing you can try is to place your alarm/phone in a place where you have to get out of bed to turn it off.

Step 2: Morning Meditation & Affirmations

What I was saying about heading to Youtube and Pinterest means going to YouTube and finding a morning meditation or going to Pinterest to find positive affirmations for the day. I used to not meditate in the morning because I was lazy, but then I tried it and really enjoyed it. It’s a moment for yourself in the morning which I think is important for your mental health. It’s an opportunity to be present and grateful! You can also head to Pinterest and search ‘morning affirmations’ and repeat these to yourself out loud.

Step 3: Get Ready and Make a Coffee

Brush your teeth and wash your face or shower or whatever you like to do to get ready. Also chug some water so it will make you feel refreshed. Getting ready early and when you’re motivated is much easier than when you are settled and relaxed (or do whatever, lol I can’t say how you get ready). Next make your favorite cup of coffee or tea! Nothing is better than your favorite drink in the early morning.

Step 4: Journal

Once you have your favorite morning drink, sit down and journal and write down what you’re feeling, or how you want your day to go. Manifest the good into your life and write down what you’re grateful for. This will give you a clear mind. If you don’t like to journal, just sit and appreciate the moment for a second, there is no rush.

Step 5: Have a Great Day!

Use these steps to benefit you and to make your day great. Usually these steps take me 45 mins to an hour, it may be different for you. This is time for YOU. If these steps seem like too much at first, start with just one of them and work your way up. The cool thing about your morning routine is you can do what you want and what makes you feel best! With this morning routine you will feel happy and refreshed for the day.
