In this day in age it is beyond easy to get caught up in comparison. On the internet our eyes are filled with edited pictures, people when they look their best and at their happiest times. We often think man I wish I looked like them or I wish I had their style or I wish I was where they are. It’s a whole lot of wishing and comparison that’s unhealthy.
I feel as these days people think their self worth is based off of what they look like or how many likes they get on Instagram. This leads to a bad cycle of unhealthy eating and exercising habits and then we tend to burn out because we didn’t have a huge transformation in two weeks time.
Think of it like this..
When you start to compare yourself to other people on the internet, just remember what your body does for you. By this I mean your body helps you move and do the things you love. Every little component keeps you alive and well. We should not be rude to our bodies and think why can’t I have a flat stomach and big butt. Sure you can work on those things but appreciate all that it does for you at this very moment.
Other cool things about you
When we let comparison get to us, we are harsh on ourselves in other areas too. Maybe you want to be as happy as one of your friends or what not. You should always be working on yourself and let your amazing personality shine. People would rather be friends or date someone that has a phenomenal personality rather than their looks. Someone could be “perfect” and have a trash personality and it all goes down the drain. Everyone has flaws and are not perfect so if you stick to who you are and are not afraid of it, you’ll bring upon more happiness then you ever thought you could imagine.
Discovering more about yourself
If you happen to feel a little lost in who you are that’s ok. We are human and we are always changing and evolving. To discover more about what you truly like you need to try new activities and be more spontaneous! Try something that you think you wouldn’t enjoy and it might shock you. When you are growing as a person you tend to leave old things like habits and people behind. This can be hard to accept sometimes but know it’s for your highest good. If things don’t make sense at the moment that is ok too. See the unknown as a positive!
Just being you and not caring about what other people think is easier said than done. Take it a step at a time and remember that a lot of things on social media are edited so don’t get down on yourself. You are worth more than what your self image appears to be, always remember that!
